Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) audits begin in 2021, and if organizations in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) want to succeed under CMMC, they need to have the required practices and processes in place.

Small to medium sized businesses within the DoD supply chain are vulnerable to cyber attacks, so the DoD is implementing CMMC, a verification system that will enhance the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Before the DIB can be awarded new Department of Defense (DoD) contracts, they will need to be certified by a third-party assessor organization (C3PAO).
