Small Fish in a Big Pond
The Mentor-Protégé (MP) program is a great program for small or disadvantaged businesses just starting out in government contracting or for businesses that need a helping hand when it comes to growing their government contracting practice. The MP program may work with any business size, including other than small (mid-sized) businesses. The Small Business Administration (SBA) developed two of the most well-known MP programs: the All Small Mentor Protégé Program and the 8(a) Small Business Mentor-Protégé Program. To learn more on some of the requirements to enter into a MP Program, follow the link below!

Procurement Through Commercial E-Commerce Portals Initiative hits Phase 2
In early May, the General Services Administration (GSA) along with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) debuted their plan to implement the market research phase of the government's Procurement Through Commercial E-Commerce Portals initiative. This is in further effort to pave the way for greater e-commerce usage by the government. Overall, the plan highlights the following changes: 1) Launch of a proof of concept project that will start small, test ideas, and develop best practices; 2) Limit the purchases made through the proof of concept to the current micro-purchase threshold of $10,000; and 3) Simultaneously explore the benefits of alternative commercial e-commerce portals. New Rule Streamlines GSA Schedules Program Clauses
The General Services Administration Acquisition Regulation has published a final rule in an effort to streamline the GSA Schedules Program clauses and provisions. This initiative has been in the making for several years and primarily aims to bring transparency, efficiency, and clarity to the GSA Schedules Program. Follow the link below to read up on the clause changes!
The Most Favored Customer, or MFC, is your company's customer or customer class that receives your best pricing for the products or services being offered. This is an integral part of GSA's determination of your pricing on your GSA Schedule proposal or modification. GSA will negotiate what they may consider to be a "fair and reasonable" discount based on what is offered to the MFC.
Will my GSA contract get extended for another option period?
GSA Schedule contracts have a based period of five years and 3 five-year option periods, meaning Schedule holders could potentially hold the original contract for 20 years. However, contract holders must meet the minimum sales requirement of $25,000 and maintain contract compliance to be considered for an option extension. GSA will reach out via email approximately 210 days before your contract expires if you're eligible for contract extension.
