Government Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 has ended and it’s time to start preparing your GSA Schedule for FY2027. Here are some tips for the new year:
Modify your GSA Schedule and keep offerings current: Complete any administrative updates, such as point of contact and address changes, to avoid delays in communicating with buyers and compliance issues. It may take several weeks for contract-level modifications to be approved, so if you need to adjust your offerings’ prices, descriptions, or even add new Special Item Numbers (SINs), products, and services to your contract, begin preparing and submitting those mods for review as soon as possible.
Research agencies’ award histories, planned acquisitions, and budgets: You can review agencies’ spending habits and awards from FY2026 using USAspending.gov or SAM.gov, and GSA’s Forecast of Contracting Opportunities tool to gather an idea of potential upcoming procurements and the types of goods or services required. The FY2027 budget has not been agreed upon yet; however, the President’s FY2027 Budget Request is available to review where spending may be headed.
Optimize use of GSA eBuy: Through GSA eBuy,agencies will release RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs under the SINs you have awarded. New opportunities may be released daily or weekly, so it’s important to have a dedicated team member reviewing the eBuy portal frequently to ensure you have time to develop competitive proposal responses.

QUICK TIP
Just Got Your GSA Schedule Award? Here's What You Should Do
Once you are awarded your GSA Schedule, you can’t just sit and wait for the orders to come in, you need to be proactive about getting your contract set up. This can include steps such as registering your contract in the Federal Acquisition Service Catalog Platform (FCP), taking advantage of exclusive GSA portals, and choosing the best Point of Contact (POC) to market your contract.
The first step to making your Schedule visible is to verify your Seller Profile in the FCP; then, you must go to the eMod and FCP portals to complete the Catalog Baseline Modification. Once you’ve uploaded your awarded Terms and Conditions file to the FCP, your contract will be visible, and potential buyers can view your offerings in eLibrary and GSA Advantage!.
Another helpful first step is to utilize GSA eLibrary, and GSA Advantage! to optimize your offerings and make it easier for federal customers to discover and purchase from you. You should also check GSA eBuy daily for relevant contracting opportunities. Additionally, designating a POC who is familiar with your GSA Schedule will allow your company to better respond to opportunities. Your contract is a valuable tool, but its success will depend on how effectively you manage and market it post-award. Learn more here.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
GSA Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) contracts are a great way to get started in federal contracting, but the proposal process can seem daunting. Before getting too deep into your proposal, it’s important to understand the basic eligibility and compliance requirements to get a MAS contract.
Q: What are the basic eligibility requirements for getting a GSA MAS contract?
A: While GSA Schedules have a lower threshold for general eligibility than other government contracts such as OASIS+, there are still a few criteria all contractors need to meet. The first is having been in business for at least two years – unless your company is eligible for the FASt Lane and Startup Springboard. Additionally, you must be actively selling the products or services you intend to propose, and they must be Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliant. If you are unable to demonstrate past performance and commercial sales, you won’t be eligible for a MAS contract.
Q: What past performance do I need?
A: Exactly what past performance is required depending on whether you are offering products or services, and what Special Item Numbers (SINs) you are proposing. All offers must include a Corporate Experience Narrative, which provides a general overview of your company and the services you provide. You must also include 3 references from previous customers, either in the form of CPARS or Past Performance Questionnaires. Finally, service offerors must include Relevant Project Experience, which is a narrative (supported by contract documentation) describing a project similar in scope to the SIN you are proposing. Some SINs require multiple narratives or specific qualifications to be addressed in the narrative, so be sure to carefully review the requirements for whatever SINs you propose.
Q: Why might my offer get rejected?
A: Rejections happen for all sorts of reasons, even to qualified offerors. Common reasons that we see for rejections include missing documentation, poor record of past performance, insufficient pricing support, or SIN scope issues. This is why it is critical to review both your offer and the solicitation requirements thoroughly before submitting your offer.
