Economically Disadvantaged Women Owned Small Businesses

It's important to note the differences between the Economically Disadvantaged Women Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) certification and a Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) certification as both have similar requirements but also have several distinctions. An EDWOSB also qualifies for WOSB qualification, but that is not the case the other way around. Like a WOSB, in order to be considered an EDWOSB, a woman must control most of the company, at least 51%. Although, to be considered an EDWOSB the owner must also be economically disadvantaged. Critical information
After roughly 5 years, GSA will be saying good-bye to the Reserve Auction (RA) platform. Following a wide-array of studies on the platform, the acting Deputy Commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Services, Erv Koehler, stated that RA is no longer financially viable. Mr. Koehler also stated that "Our focus now is to ensure that platform is shut down in an orderly way. As such system operations will conclude at the end of Fiscal year 2018, which means the RA platform will not be available for either the creation or management of auctions after Sept. 30, 2018." All-in-all, the decommission of RA will allow GSA to refocus resources and personnel in order to support other critical growth areas.
Emerging business opportunities
  • FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS), a communications and information management services contract, is expected to release a Request for Proposal between November and December of 2018.
  • A Request for Information regarding cyber supply chain risk management was recently released by the Department of Homeland Security. Responses will be due by October 10th, 2018.
  • The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) has released a government research and development announcement, and proposal will be accepted beginning September 24.
