Having trouble with Windows XP? Always having troubleshooting problems and need help adjusting and migrating to the update? This April, Microsoft is ending support for Windows XP, and as a result, government agencies are quickly migrating to Windows 7.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA) have established a set of criteria for the evaluation of IT Products. The purpose of the criteria was to ensure that the “federal government will no longer comply with products and solutions that do not have consistent security updates and accessibility improvements.” Therefore, migrating to a modern desktop, such as Windows 7 or 8 is critical for the success for all government agencies and further sanctions the necessity for durable IT security in the government sector.
The White House and all branches of the military are also on the list for Windows 7 migration, and both sectors understand and demonstrate the importance through their migration. Losing security and critical updates for functionality can be disastrous, and the agencies cannot afford to lose support for their OS.
In response to this issue, BMC Software & Winvale have teamed up to present a webinar that addresses these issues such as software license compliance, identifying systems that do not meet migration requirements and managing virtual machines.
