Is the New SIN for Cloud Services Rolling In? Not So Fast!

The Office of the IT Schedule Programs wants to increased visibility and access of cloud services for all federal agencies. Great idea, right? Especially given that most agencies don’t really know how to buy cloud services. But adding a new Special Item Number (SIN) isn’t as easy as you might think; there are many decisions that need to be made and considerations to take into account. In July 2014, a Request for Information (RFI) was released in consideration for creating a new SIN for cloud computing services. After collecting and reviewing the responses, they gathered industry partners together to participate in an Industry Day event to further discuss and receive feedback regarding this new SIN.

GSA Announces Big Changes to Professional Services GSA Schedules

After months of speculation GSA announced on Friday that a new single Professional Services Schedule is in the works and unfortunately, this is not going to pretty for some! The new GSA “Consolidated GSA Schedule” will be called The Professional Services Multiple Award Schedule or “PSS” for short. Although the exact migration process has not been announced by GSA and future application details are still yet to be hashed out, the GSA expects to complete the consolidation of current applicable Schedules by December 2015. Starting with GSA’s goals, here is what you need to know.

Last month, the General Services Administration held a webinar, “Keeping Your IT Schedule 70 Compliant,” that gave some great pointers to GSA Schedule holders. GSA: New Professional Labor Qualifications Review During Contractor Assistance Visits

In the General Services Administration’s latest newsletter, released on Monday, September 8, 2014, they outlined new changes in regards to the information Industrial Operations Analysts (IOAs) will be looking for during Contractor Assistance Visits (CAVs). The updates will only impact contractors with Professional Services Labor Categories currently awarded on their GSA Schedules. Every awarded labor category is required to have an experience description outlined in their contract.
