The mission continues to modernize and streamline the federal procurement process—GSA announced this week they are launching their OneGov Strategy, a new initiative helping agencies gain access to IT tools. This announcement follows several Executive Orders (EO) shifting how the federal government acquires goods and services, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 2.0 and the EO expanding GSA’s role in procurement. The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)—the federal government’s ultimate guide for acquisition—is a 2,000+ page rulebook (some may use as a doorstop it’s so large) that has become a hot topic of conversation in the Trump Administration. A recent Executive Order (EO) directs relevant procurement officials to review the FAR and come up with FAR 2.0 within 180 days. The order also requests a thorough review of the federal procurement system to see where it can be made more streamlined and efficient.

President Trump signed an Executive Order (EO) last week that will drastically expand federal procurement within the General Services Administration (GSA). We’ve already written several blogs on the policy changes set in motion by the new administration, including the impacts of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and numerous executive orders. Another area where the Trump Administration diverges greatly from the Biden administration is in their approach to Artificial Intelligence (AI). In this blog, we’ll discuss the differences between their approaches and how the Trump Administration could shape the future of AI in the federal government.

DOGE has become a staple term in the news lately—the Trump Administration recently released an Executive Order (EO) implementing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Cost Efficiency Initiative. The order seeks to transform federal spending on contracts, grants, and loans to ensure there’s transparency and accountability. This EO further establishes and adds structure to the first order published for DOGE, “Establishing and Implementing the President’s “Department of Government Efficiency”, as well as proposes significant changes to the federal grant and contracting processes.
