Whether you’re a new or a seasoned government contractor, there are always changes you need to keep up with. One of the newest updates in the world of GSA is the transition from the Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number to a new Unique Entity Identifier in the System for Award Management, or SAM. When GSA announced this transition a few months ago, contractors started asking several questions about the process such as: When will the transition be complete? How do I get a Unique Entity ID? Do I still need a DUNS number? It’s a rewarding contract vehicle, but it’s a long-term commitment, meaning you’ll need to frequently update your GSA Schedule to grow with your business and to keep up with GSA regulations. CMMC 2.0 is here—the Department of Defense (DoD) announced the revamped version of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) on November 4, 2021. CMMC, a cybersecurity compliance program for defense contractors, is intended to verify that contractors are taking the appropriate cybersecurity practices and measures. Contractors in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) have been following CMMC closely as it’s slowly being phased into notices, requirements, and solicitations.
